Why NAT Type Matters?
NAT (Network Address Translation) is the mechanism that allows multiple devices in your home or office to share a single public IP address. However, the way your router handles incoming traffic varies based on its security policy.
Strict NAT (Symmetric): High security but breaks many peer-to-peer (P2P) connections. Common in corporate firewalls.
Moderate NAT (Cone): Port mapping is preserved for the same internal device, allowing most P2P connections to work.
Open NAT (Direct): No firewall or 1-to-1 NAT mapping, which is rare and risky for unshielded devices.
